Pre-Admission Clinic
Anglesea Hospital is committed to providing excellence in patient services. All patients attending Anglesea Hospital will be screened by our Preadmission Nurse.
All patient admission forms and heath questionnaires will be assessed and if required you will receive a phone call from the Preadmission Nurse. If a physical assessment is deemed necessary, you will be seen on site at Anglesea Hospital in the Nurse led Preadmission Clinic.
Your Preadmission Nurse will liaise with your Surgeon, Anaesthetist, GP or Specialist if you require any planning for complex health issues, to ensure everyone is informed and all runs smoothly on day of procedure.
You will receive important information via Personify Care that will assist in the education and planning of your procedure. Please ensure you read all information provided for you.

What you need to bring:
Daystay Patients
- Any medications or inhalers that you are currently taking
- Crutches if required – please note we DO NOT stock crutches at Anglesea Hospital
- Glasses, lenses, hearing aids
- Comfortable loose-fitting clothing
Overnight Patients
- Any medications or inhalers you are currently taking
- Crutches if required – please note we DO NOT stock crutches at Anglesea Hospital
- Comfortable sleepwear and slippers
- Comfortable loose-fitting clothing to wear during the day
- Toiletries
- Glasses, hearing aids etc
Preadmission Checklist
- Complete the Patient Admission Form
- Complete the Patient Health Questionnaire
- Complete the Covid Screen
- Complete the VTE Risk Assessment
- Complete the Falls Risk Assessment
- Check any specific preadmission information and instructions provided to you by your Surgeon
- If you require blood tests, have these done 48hrs before procedure
- Plan for support following your discharge. You will need someone to stay with you for the first 24 hours after having an anaesthetic. You may find it helpful to pre-prepare meals, arrange for someone to feed and walk your animals
- Arrange transport to and from the hospital – you will not be able to drive yourself home. If you are staying overnight, you will need to arrange to be picked up between 9am & 10am on the expected day of discharge
- If you are staying overnight, please remember to bring your medications with you
- Please do not wear makeup
- We strongly advise NOT to bring any valuables with you. You will need to remove all jewelry before going to the operating room, so we encourage you to leave this at home, or have a support person take them home for you
- Have nothing to eat or drink for at least 6 hours before your admission time. This includes chewing gum
- You may drink plain water until 2 hours before your admission time
