A new milestone in robotic-assisted surgery for Anglesea. We are proud to be home to New Zealand’s first Toumai Laparoscopic Surgical System, bringing new possibilities for robotic-assisted surgery to the Waikato region.
The advanced technology supports surgeons performing complex laparoscopic procedures, with high-definition 3D visualisation and highly mobile robotic instruments designed to enhance precision and dexterity.
The first surgery using the system was successfully completed this month, with gynaecology specialists Dr Lakshmi Ravikanti and Dr VP Singh becoming the first surgeons in New Zealand trained to operate the Toumai system.
For patients, robotic-assisted surgery can support minimally invasive approaches, which may mean smaller incisions, less post-operative pain and a faster recovery.
This investment marks an exciting step forward for Anglesea Hospital and reflects Evolution Healthcare’s ongoing commitment to advancing surgical technology and supporting excellent patient care across New Zealand.
