In a remarkable story of medical innovation and resilience, a patient’s life has been transformed following a pioneering surgical procedure by Surgeon Simon Chong at Anglesea Hospital.
Featured this morning on RNZ and shared to the RNZ and NZ Herald websites, the procedure took place after a catastrophic accident left the man’s leg unrecognisable and unable to be salvaged in its original form.
This morning Anglesea Hospital said goodbye to a deeply grateful family. Lautaimi Faumuina has asked to extend his heartfelt thanks to everyone involved in his care at Anglesea Hospital. He expressed immense appreciation for the life-changing surgery he received.
Mr. Faumuina is now returning to Auckland, where he will spend six weeks recovering before heading back to Samoa.
